Description Emma discusses how she came to live in Mele Maat and her difficulties with learning to speak the language. Her husband used to laugh at her when she tried to speak in Southeast Ambrym so she stopped trying. She can understand Southeast Ambrym but usually speaks in Bislama. She speaks Southeast Ambrym with Bell for the first time, talking about her work around the house. She also speaks about working as a nurse in Bislama. This is an interview. Description Recordings made by Eleanor Ridge with Vatlongos community members between 2014 and 2020 as part of a PhD project and follow up trips. The project was funded by a UK Arts and Humanities Research Councial doctoral scholarship. Follow up trips were funded by a SOAS University doctoral travel grant, and by Massey University.
