Title The snake that turned into a coconut
Description A story about a snake who had a child. This child went to play with some other children one day, and when they found out that his mother was a snake they killed her. The child then cut off and buried his mother's head and it grew into a coconut tree. This is a traditional custom story. Description Recordings made by Eleanor Ridge with Vatlongos community members between 2014 and 2020 as part of a PhD project and follow up trips. The project was funded by a UK Arts and Humanities Research Councial doctoral scholarship. Follow up trips were funded by a SOAS University doctoral travel grant, and by Massey University.
