The title of this story is also 'Majun' (the reason). This is about why we add eggs to the rice gift basket. Many of us do not know about it. That Majun is forgotten. Among many other races, the Jinghpaw people use eggs in the rice gift basket. The reason why we add the eggs to the rice gift basket is (1) all the eggs laid by one chicken have the same colour. We value that. It means that we, the in-laws and brothers and sisters, should be one. Let's be united. (2) The second reason is that we know that eggs are fragile. Eggshells are really thin, so they break easily. Let's not let anyone interfere between us. May no harm come between us. We should respect each other. It means that the egg can break easily when we crack it, so we also need to treat each other with respect and not let any conflict happen between us. The third reason is that the relationships between us. It means that we can't find the start of the egg. There is no saying like that in Burmese. This is how I interpret in Burmese: "We can't find the start of the egg." We value these reasons behind it. When we visit our in-laws, our family, or anyone we want to thank, we respectfully give a rice gift basket. We add eggs to that basket. I talked about this in front of History Professor Than Htun when I attended the university in 1978. The person who told me about this is Slg. Gum Daw Gum Tsau from Lung Sha Yang.
